Mrs. Cecilia Vacek, 83, of Schulenburg, mother of Mrs. V. A. Cernosek of Weimar, died at her home early Tuesday morning after two weeks’ serious illness.
Funeral services were held this (Thursday) morning at St. Rose Catholic Church, Schulenburg, with burial in St. Rose Cemetery.
Mrs. Vacek had not been well for more than a year.
Born in 1871 in Czechoslovakia, she came to this country with her parents, John and Mary Mensik, when she was 11 years old. They settled near Schulenburg, and she spent the rest of her life in that area.
She was married about 63 years ago to John Vacek, who preceded her in death about 50 years ago. Mrs. Vacek was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and KJZT lodge.
Surviving her are six daughters, Mrs. V. A. (Annie) Cernosek of Weimar; Mrs. H. (Emily) White of Houston; Mrs. E. (Mary) Tengler of Fort Worth; Mrs. Ed (Lennie) Hilscher, Mrs. Ed (Edna) Watzlavick, and Mrs. Adolph (Della) Cernosek, all of Schulenburg. Twenty-four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.
