Tupa, Anton V.

HALLETTSVILLE – Anton V. Tupa, 68, of Hallettsville, died Tuesday at 2:30 a.m. in a local hospital.

The body will lie in state at the Kubena Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Thursday when it will be taken to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for services at 10 a.m. The Rev. Stanley Petru will officiate. Burial will be in Moravia Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Tupa was born in Lavaca County on Jan. 17, 1907. He married the former Matilda Breska on Oct. 31, 1927 at St. John’s. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Jerome of Houston, George of Wharton, and James of San Antonio; four daughters, Mrs. Phillip Bujnoch of Hallettsville, Mrs. Joe Pekar of Austin, Mrs. Donald Hoffer of Inez, and Mrs. Dennis Wesley of Hobbs, N.M.; three brothers, Frank of Hallettsville, Charlie of New Braunfels, and Joe of Ganado; four sisters, Mrs. Fred Breska of Weimar, Mrs. O. B. Tomlin of Conroe, Mrs. Jim Okruhlik and Mrs. Frank Okruhlik, both of Schulenburg; 20 grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Rosaries will be recited Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. by the parish and at 7:45 by the society.
