Jalufka, Jerome W.


Jerome W. Jalufka, 90, of Violet, passed away October 8, 1988 in a local hospital after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Jalufka in November 17, 1984.  He was born in Moravia, Texas, and moved to Violet in 1923 when he started his own business, Violet Grain and Gin Company.  He was president of Violet Grain and Gin Company where he was active until his death.  He was past president of the Texas and National Cotton Ginners Association.  He was a vice-president with the Corpus Christi Board of Directors, and was a member and past president of the Rotary Club.  He was a Nueces County Judge in 1958.  He was a graduate of Texas A&M in 1916.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Williams of Violet, and Mary Frances Studer of Arlington, Texas; two sons, Jerome E. Jalufka of Corpus Christi, and Earl Davis Jalufka of Violet; four sisters, Carrie Ford of Kingsland, Texas, Ollie Brauner of Hallettsville, Helen Mikulenka, also of Hallettsville, and Willie Mae Maxem of El Paso, 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Violet.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David, Stephen, John, and James Williams IV, Robert, John Lyle, and Jerry Jalufka, David Ebert, and Wes Bevly

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Violet or to a favorite charity.
