Benishek, Josephine (Parise)

1916-2010

Josephine Benishek, age 94, of Poteet, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in Pleasanton, Texas.  She is survived by her son, Anthony Benisek and wife Crystal of Pleasanton.  She is also survived by her sister, Marguerite Young  of Jourdanton and brother, Jack Parise of Rockport, as well as grandchildren, Robert Benishek, Bill Benishek, Carolyn Daniel, Susan Canupp, Sandra Tondre and Jesus Rodriguez; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Rose Parise; husband, Anton Benishek, Jr.; daughter, Linda Long and sister, Beatrice Steckland.

Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 West Oaklawn Road, Pleasanton from 2:00PM – 9:00PM on Friday, July 23, 2010.  A rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00PM.  The funeral service will be held at 9:00AM on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Poteet, Texas.  Interment will follow at St. Matthew’s Catholic Cemetery in Jourdanton, Texas.

Matocha, Elizabeth “Pet” (Dupnik)

1915-2010

Elizabeth “Pet” Matocha, age 95, of Jourdanton, TX, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010, in Pleasanton, TX. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Alice Daniels and husband Jim of Pleasanton and Francis Garrett and husband Cliff of San Antonio. Mrs. Matocha is also survived by her grandson, Jimmie Daniel and wife Zita of Austin and great grandson Joshua Daniel, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Annie (Urbanczk) Dupnik and husband Ed Matocha.

Mrs. Matocha married Edward in 1935. They, along with Edward’s brothers, Fred and Gus owned and operated Matocha Bros. General Merchandise in Jourdanton until the time of their retirement in 1963. She was very active in the St. Matthews Catholic Church Alter Society and was a faithful attendee of the church. She took pride in being a homemaker, and loved her flowers and lawn where some of her favorite moments were spent watering, trimming and beautifying.

Visitation being held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 West Oaklawn Rd., Pleasanton, TX from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM Friday, November 26, 2010. Funeral service will be at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Jourdanton at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 27, 2010. Interment will be at St. Matthew’s Catholic Cemetery, Jourdanton. Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Jimmy Dornak, Joseph Matocha, Doc Williams, Fred “Buster” Matocha, Jerome Jasik and Brad Reichert. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Matthew’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 1700 Campbell, Jourdanton, Texas 78064. Ulcak, Le Grae

1919-2011

Le Grea Ulcak, age 91, of Jourdanton, TX, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, in San Antonio, TX. She is survived by her daughter and son Martha F. Ulcak of Jourdanton, Blase J. Ulcak, Jr. of Baytown; sister Mae Justine Smith of Jourdanton as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Ulcak is preceded in death by her husband Blase J. Ulcak, Sr., and infant son Karl Edmund Ulcak.

Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 West Oaklawn Rd., Pleasanton, TX from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Zahirniak, Charles A. “Chuck”

1966-2006

Charles A. “Chuck” Zahirniak, age 41, of West, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at his residence.

A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed. Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Chuck was born on August 1, 1966 in Hillsboro, the son of Joseph Edward “Joe” and Dorothy Mae (Pavlas) Zahirniak. He attended West schools and graduated from West High School in 1985. Chuck was attending Texas State Technical College working for a degree in heating and air conditioning and was scheduled to graduate in August, 2008. He enjoyed hunting and especially loved to fish. Chuck was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption in West.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Zahirniak, and sister, Connie Drews.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Zahirniak, two brothers, Edward Zahirniak and wife Sherry and Bill Zahirniak; two sisters, Donna Adair and husband Dennis, and Mary Berger, all of West; his nieces and nephews, Dylan Berger, Renee Lynch, Amber Zahirniak, Zachary Zahirniak, Ronald Petter, Kimberly Epps, Andrea Hooker, Kristie Mason, and Sherry Alligood; his great nieces and nephews, Joey, Meagan, Amber, Kimberly, Olivia, Landon, Gain, Grayson, Coy, Riley, Ashley, and Ty; his dog, Daisy; and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Inky Adamson, Ronnie Petter, Zachary Zahirniak, Timmy Young, Ben Thompson, Rodney Young, Aaron Haskins, and Bert Marek.

Memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends or St. Mary’s Parish Center.
