While on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. Henry Kainer, who lives near shiner, Mrs. Anna Hodanek of Flatonia, was taken suddenly ill last Thursday night and died about 11 p.m. She was born in Bohemia, coming to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Valenta, Sr., settling in Austin county. Two years later she was married to Josef Hodanek and they moved to Flatonia where they had lived 44 years.

She is survived by her husband, eight daughters, Mesdames Anna Studlar, Francis Velek, Amelia Vrana, Emma Varna [Vrana], Vlasta Mueller, Rosie Dulak, Ella Kainer, and Lillie Pavlas, two sons, Lada and Jerome, thirtythree grand children and four great-grand children, a brother, Frank Valenta, living at Flatonia, and a sister, Mrs. J. A. Marik, at Shiner.

The funeral services were conducted at the family residence and cemeteay by Judge E. J. Motis. Burial was made in Flatonia cemeteay. A choir of select voices rendered beautiful hyms.

A. Marik, C. Valenta and Adolph Richter, Mr. John Valenta, Misses Valesta and Valentina Marik.

Kainer, Wilbert J.


Wilbert J. Kainer, 74 of El Campo, passed away on May 27, 2012. He was born on December 29, 1937 in El Campo to the late John and Mary Bayer Kainer. He was a farmer and rancher and worked for the Glaze Brothers for 41 years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn Ullmann Kainer of El Campo, daughters Sharon Stehno and husband Allen of El Campo, Stephanie Hoelscher and husband Kenneth of El Campo, son Darryl Kainer and wife Cindy of Richmond, grandchildren Justin Abbott, Christina Stehno, Bradley Stehno, Cody Kainer, Colton Kainer, Kadie Kainer and Trevor Hoelscher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Veronica Kainer and brother I. G. Kainer.

Visitation will begin at 1 pm on Monday at Triska Funeral Home with a Parish Rosary recited at 6 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers are Jim Kainer, Kenneth Kainer, Ross Glaze, Joey Savino, Marvin Hartfield, Stephen Ullmann. Honorary bearers are his grandchildren.

Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the family or St. Philip’s Catholic Church.
