Matocha, Elizabeth “Pet” (Dupnik)


Elizabeth “Pet” Matocha, age 95, of Jourdanton, TX, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010, in Pleasanton, TX. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Alice Daniels and husband Jim of Pleasanton and Francis Garrett and husband Cliff of San Antonio. Mrs. Matocha is also survived by her grandson, Jimmie Daniel and wife Zita of Austin and great grandson Joshua Daniel, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Annie (Urbanczk) Dupnik and husband Ed Matocha.

Mrs. Matocha married Edward in 1935. They, along with Edward’s brothers, Fred and Gus owned and operated Matocha Bros. General Merchandise in Jourdanton until the time of their retirement in 1963. She was very active in the St. Matthews Catholic Church Alter Society and was a faithful attendee of the church. She took pride in being a homemaker, and loved her flowers and lawn where some of her favorite moments were spent watering, trimming and beautifying.

Visitation being held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 West Oaklawn Rd., Pleasanton, TX from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM Friday, November 26, 2010. Funeral service will be at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Jourdanton at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 27, 2010. Interment will be at St. Matthew’s Catholic Cemetery, Jourdanton. Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Jimmy Dornak, Joseph Matocha, Doc Williams, Fred “Buster” Matocha, Jerome Jasik and Brad Reichert. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Matthew’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 1700 Campbell, Jourdanton, Texas 78064.
