Sims, Anna (Vrana) Barta

Anna Pauline Sims of Marion passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the age of 98. Anna was born July 10 in Campbellton to Louise (Odlozelik) and Vojtech Vrana.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son Steve Barta, sisters Geraldine Kloth and Mary Stanard and brothers Adolph Vrana and Albert Vrana.

She is survived by her daughter Charlene Calhoun of Marion; son Albert Joe Barta of Onalaska; brothers Anton Vrana of Kerrville and Julius Barta and wife Adelaine of Poteet; sister Estelle Heiser and husband Bill of Pearsall; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2007 from 2-9 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Services will be held Friday, January 2007 at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Jourdanton with interment following at St. Matthew’s Cemetery in Jourdanton.

FLATONIA —George T. Barta, 70, of Flatonia, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999.
He was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Flatonia, to the late Theodore T. Barta and Ida Katherine Hollub. He was a self-employed rancher, a member of Independent Cattlemen’s Association and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors: wife, Bessie L. Barta; daughter, Kelly D. Mode of Flatonia; son, Glenn R. Barta of LaGrange and six grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents; and an infant brother.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Flatonia.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Dean Evans officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Flatonia. Smith Funeral Home, Flatonia, (361) 596-4631.

Barta, Madeline Lincecum Anderson


Madeline Lincecum Anderson Barta of Pleasanton, Texas passed away at her residence on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the age of 86. Madeline was born on July 15, 1924 in Sikeston, Missouri to Cliff and Blanche Lincecum.

She had a varied professional career including many years of service to Exxon. She enjoyed traveling, reading, painting and nature. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Public Library and singing in the United Methodist Church choir when she lived in Leakey. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Madeline was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved first husband, Jack Anderson.

She is survived by her three children: son, Bruce Anderson of Corpus Christi, son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Mary Helen Anderson of Corpus Christi; daughter, Judy Spencer of Heidelberg, Germany; brother and sister-in-law – Billy and Margaret Lincecum of Corpus Christi; grandchildren – David Daugaard, Josh Anderson, Ryan Anderson; great-grandchildren – Leah Curtis, Amber, Austin and Aero Anderson; Ethan, Scarlett and Phoenix Anderson; great-great-granddaughter – Ilyana Perdomo.

The funeral services will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 W Oaklawn Road, Pleasanton 78064, at 12:00 PM, Wednesday October 13, 2010, with Rev. Doug Smith officiating. Interment will be held at the Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville, at 12:00 PM, on Thursday, October 14, 2010. Anyone wishing to sign the guestbook, share memories or issue condolences may do so at
