Slovak, Raymond J.

Raymond J. Slovak, age 77, passed away in Ennis on August 14, 2012. He was born in Ennis to John J. and Steavy (Holy) Slovak on January 18, 1935. He married Helen Prachyl on April 27, 1954 in Ennis and a lifetime member of St. John Catholic Church. Raymond also was a member of the KJT, Knights of Columbus and the Golden Crusaders.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Helen; three sons, James and wife Theresa, Gregory and wife Susan, and Kevin and wife Karen, all of Ennis; six grandchildren, Derek and wife Kelley Slovak, Lindsay and husband Brendan Varley, Meagan and husband Jason Gould, Kacie and husband Brian Zhanel, Morgan and husband Corey Hickerson, and Kyle Slovak and girlfriend Leslie Bell; five great grandchildren, Gracie and Reese Zhanel, Jaxon and Reagan Gould, and Emily Varley; one brother, Johnny (Buster) Slovak and wife Gracie of Beaumont; two sisters, Steavy Jakubik and husband Alfred of Ennis, and Doris Dunkerley of Dallas; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Steavy Slovak; sister, Sister Stephanie Slovak; brother-in-law, Dr. Larry Dunkerley; and granddaughter, Rachel Slovak.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 6 to 8 P.M. with a Rosary at 7 P.M. at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Friday, August 17, 2012 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ennis.
